Advancing Timing
Advancing Timing
I've never done this before, so I would appreciate any help. I have a couple of questions. First, where are the timing marks located? (lg4) I've looked, but I can't see them. Second, how do I loosen the distributor so I can turn it, and which way do I turn it to advance the timing? Thanks for the help.

Ok let's see here....the timing marks are on the balancer and you compare them to the timing tab on the timing cover. There is either one or two bolts holding the distributor in place. You have to loosen then which is usually a pain. (they make special distributor hold down wrenches or you can use a crow's foot.) Then to advance the timing the distributor gets turned counterclockwise.
