Lowering + longtubes
Lowering + longtubes
Can i lower my gta Trans am 1-2 inches and run hooker supercomps or will i scrape on MOST EVERYTHING? What are the other options to long tubes without sacrificing much of the torque
ROTFLMAO! Most people with shorty headers and y-pipes with lowered cars hit their exhaust. Let alone long tubes. Smashed headers suck!

they car I have now had those hedders with true duals. It sat higher than a stock camaro because of the drag springs and drag shocks, and you could see the hedders through the wheel well. Basically, you can, but good long tubes cost more money, and I can guarantee that a 2" drop along with a few of the wrong bumps will screw them up, dent them and make them flow less desirably.
If you want to lower your car and run better flowing hedders, go with something like SLP. I don't know if you can get them withought air tubes, but if you can't and don't want them, cut them, weld them shut, then smooth the inside. That's what I'd do.
Or.. you could do what you proposed. You won't drag them on the ground, and you'll have some clearance, but you will have to be very carefull. I had an 85 Iroc that I had cut the springs on. it tucked 225/50/16's to where you couldn't get you pinky between the tire and wheel well and no matter how carefull I drove, I still managed to scrape up just about everything under the car. My car was lower than yours will be with a 2" drop, but that's just a reference to where the long tubes would probably sit compared to my subframes and crossmember.
Hope this made sense.
