Perhaps heads for the upcoming LS2 block? 2005 eh? to 2008. 2005 is the magical year for the F-body. GM said it might make an appearance for the 2005 year.

Check this link !!!

This link tells more about it:

http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/a.../27/c1200.html

The wording is intersting, it sure sounds like they are on a mission to make the ultimate cylinder head for the traditional (pre- ls1) small block chevrolet.

"McLaren Performance will work in partnership with GM Racing to fulfill its design intent for the cast-iron performance aftermarket and racing component"

"" . . . for what will no doubt be the definitive production-based, small-block cylinder head for performance enthusiasts and racers around the world," according to Jim Spaulding, Parts Manager, GM Racing."

That makes AFR's look like a bargain.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the Vortec headed TPI engine. With a ported plenum, siamesed runners, and a nice base you can get some good #'s out of them.

The new LS-1 style truck engine is also refered to as a "Vortec Engine" by GM.

I think they are refering to this engine group.
Supposed to be a new GEN IV version coming out with 3 valve heads. (2 intakes and 1 exhaust valve) Getting McLaren Engines to develope and produce this hi tech multi valve head makes much more sence.

the Gen 1 SBC engines like the 96-2000 L-31 truck 350 are going to be pretty well out of production by then.

Maybe just produced for Marine/Industrial applications.

I'd be very suprised if they would introduce a new high perf head for this motor. The present Vortec and Fastburn heads seem to fit this marketing area pretty well for them.
