hot start blues

ok, heres what I got, 383 tpi, 10 1/4 to 1 compression, battery is in the back.

the car wont start when it gets hot, If i jump the car it will start.
Heres what I have done to try and correct the problem.

-mini starter with thermo wrap around it.

-I ran a ground wire (1 gauge wire )from the battery to the front engine compartment and checked the grounds for good connections.

-starter seloniod installed underneath the car 2 feet before the starter ( it is a little close to the exhAust pipes)

- the battery is only 8 months old.

- when attempting a hot restart it will turn the motor over a little bit, but wont start , steadily gets slower ( its doing more than just clicking)
any other ideas or thing i might have missed?

I am ready to drive this car off a cliff.:

DId you grab the starter wire n stuff and see if you can wiggle them???

I found out the last time I got a starter, they did not tap the holes that hold it together deep enough, so the whole end cap where the wires were would wiggle. It did that heat soaked thing on me but one wiggle figured it out. I tried to tighten the bolts but they did not tap them deep enough. I replaced it with new one that was all nice and tight and no problems.

It could be the same kind of thing but the thread were tap a little more but still not enough.

I think this is the problem with every heat soaked funky starter, They just put the same body back into the system and I be they never re tap them holes, cause once shipped back it works fine.

Till it get back into the rotation and one a car.

You probably have too much initial timing. To test this pull the coil wire off and try the hot start again. If the engine spins over easy then it was too much timing. If it still spins really slow then it's not enough amperage to the starter.

You should wrap your exhaust, NOT the starter. The starter needs to shed heat it gets from the block.
