Sportsman IIs, vortecs, or dart iron eagle?
Right now I have the money for brand new vortecs, or a used set of sportsman II and a used set of dart iron eagle. The sportsman IIs and iron eagles are the 200cc version and have 72cc combustion chambers. Right now I have 9.6:1 compression with 64cc heads.
I will only be revving to 5700 or so tops. Which heads would you recomend for a street driven car with 3.73s? I will also be running a xe268 or xe270. This will be with an automatic transmission. Until I can save up for a t56.
which heads?!

It all depends on what condition the Eagles and Sportsman II's are in.
If you only have "X" amount of $$$, all three could be out of your budget.
Vortecs need upgrading for either of those cams. This involves either buying them upgraded, or having a machine shop do it. And if either of the other two need refreshing, that's more $$$ spent also.
If I had my choice between the three, and money wasn't an a concern, I'd pick one of the other two, not the Vortecs.
From what I understand, the Sportsman II's and the Iron Eagles are pretty much a wash. They're virtually identical since Dart and World are sister companies. I may be mistaken on that though. I only heard that through WOM.

Oh, don't forget about the cost of an intake manifold with the Vortec option.

I would say the sportsman II's
My buddy has them on his 383, and had I think Vortecs...what a huge difference
Thats my 2 cents..the darts or Sportsmans are good
P.S. good call on the T-56

I'm not worried about getting the vortec intake manifold. I was gonna get some anyways.
My goals are 350hp at the crank. Maybe 300 at the wheels if possible. You think I could do this with vortecs?
I'm now looking into getting a set of 170cc edelbrock e-tecs. Twice the price but they are alluminum...and im sure they are a better head.
