my car left me stranded last night. after sitting a while i came to start it and it would act like it wanted to start but never would. i had to give it gas to get it to run. this REALLY SUCKS. if anyone can help me PLEASE do. i would really appreciate any help i can get.

Gotta love these "PLEASE FIX IT OVER THE INTERNET" posts...the ambiguous conflicting info really helps also.

So it would never start, but if you gave it gas it would run. Ooookaaaayyyy....I'll take a shot at connecting the dots here...you poured gas down the carb or whatever and it would start for a few sec before dying. Sounds like your fuel pump died. If carb, the pump is most likely bolted to the pax side of your block toward the front of the engine. If injected, it's in the gas tank.

NOTE: if it's the external mechanical fuel pump type, and it failed, you want to check your oil to verify no gas leaked past the pump innards and contaminated the oil. Rare, but it happens.

 

take care of the note. I once drained 5 gallon of an oil fuel mix. You could light it. Good thing the truck didn't start.
