SES Light Question
Sound wierd, but, when I bought the GTA, someone had removed the SES light.
The car has had a tendency to blow smoke and gas knock under moderate to heavy acceleration, and on the highway uses oil, but not much around town.
I replaced the SES light the other day expecting to see it on permanently, but, it showes a "12" as expected when checked, and stays out with the engine running.
The engine is much smoother, and doesn't blow smoke or ping now.
I don't know about the oil consumption.
Am I just imagining things, or am I missing something.
Input appreciated.
Cheers
Richard

Richard,
I don't think you are imagining things. Begining of this year I was driving my camaro around town without the gauge cluster in. It was up at a shop having the gauges re-cal for when I swapped the faces. I still need my car and so I drove it without the guage cluster and had to tow the car home twice. I forget how it works but the SES circuit does interact with the ECM in that it's not just an indicator light......
