Help please

I bought a set of used Competition Engineering 3-way adjustable shocks *grey* part#C2700 and they have no backforce. They have some resistacne when I push on them but they dont pusk back. Is this normal? How do adjust them? I see letters and a little bracket I'm supposed to turn they say XF, F, and R what do those mean? Thanks.

You can't extend the shock aborber? You should be able to pull it back out to full length.

A shock is NOT a spring! It is a very fancy way of introducing friction to the suspension to keep the springs from bouncing and bouncing after driving over a bump. The valving may not respond to your pushing and pulling, but will respond to more rapid contractions and extensions in order to control the ride.

XF is Extra Firm. F is Firm. R is Regular. "R" will give you the best ride. "XF" will ride hard but is best for cornering. "F" is somewhere in between.
