Can I adjust my TPS this way?
My car isnt here but I got my new tb today and wanted to adjust it so when i put it on the car it was ok. Can i just hook it up to a battery top power middle ground it and bottom home to the negative? Thanks
Mkos,
DON'T even think of it! The battery voltage will fry the TPS in about as much time as it would take you to yell "Oh, ****" as the smoke was released from the little potentiometer.
The TPS gets a 5VDC reference signal at limited current fromt he ECM, so the 12V from the battery will make it into charcoal in no time.
Also, since you'll have to set the minimum throttle position (which will change the TPS position) you'll have to do final adjustment on the vehicle anyway.
Sorry, but you'll have to do it the old fashioned way.
