Ran into yet another problem...need help a little help

Ran into yet another problem...need help a little help

I have a code that has been going off, here and there...mostly under the ole' lead foot, and sometimes not...like while cruiseing...It was "Coolant Temperature Sensor: Low Voltage" What does it mean? What causes it? What effects does it have on the engine? Where would it be located?

Not sure on your particular problem but the way a computer and sensor will usually work is, the computer sends voltage to a sensor. The sensor usually changes resistance to temperature or pressure depending on the type of sensor, then passes the supplied voltage through the resistor back to the computer. If the output voltage is too low then you're getting a fault code.

It can be something simple as a plug disconnected or loose from the sensor or maybe a broken wire. It's also possible that the sensor is defective.

The computer needs to know the engine temperature. Without it, the computer will always think the engine is cold and probably get poor gas milage since the engine will be running rich.
