Need help with springs
I know not having stiff enough valve springs is bad, but is having too stiff a spring a bad thing as well? I can get a some lunati 73043s for pretty cheap, and I need some 1.26 o.d. springs for a Xr269(Comp Cams makes it). Its a hydraulic roller, and if I remember correctly, these are the specs... 218 and 224 @.050, and I believe about .500 lift on both intake and exhaust. I don't want to spend a fortune on springs, so I was tempted by the Lunati's. I haven't been able to find the spring pressure for them, but they are stock diameter and take up to a .630 lift, way more than I need. This sounds like a bad thing(sounds like they are too stiff to me), but I want to know for sure.

I can tell you that SDPC recommends a max of 350lbs of spring pressure for hydraulic roller lifters. I don't think the springs you mentioned will be the stiff but check to make sure.

I found out the spring pressure for the lunatis. At 1.750, its 108lbs closed----max lift .630 pressure is about 370lbs. Comp cams recommended the 986-16 with this cam, which has a pressure of 120 @1.800 and 290 @ 1.250. But it has an outer diameter of 1.440, so I have to get the heads machined. I really want to avoid that.
