bulk oil

Anyone know where I can buy oil and filters in bulk? I need about 13 gallons worth, and I'm figuring it'll be cheaper to buy it by the gallon rather than by the quart. I'm also looking to pick up about 12 oil filters.

Thanks,
Matt

if you consider 5 quart jugs bulk then yes i buy in bulk. spent 130 dollars at wal mart on oil few weeks ago. 4 jugs each of M1 and pennzoil. i tried to find distributor of M1 local to me and considered buying a drum of it if it were cheap but i couldn't find anyone that sold it. i'm considering buying filters by the case for my work car since i change oil every 3 weeks and AC filters are gettign hard to find.

That really isn't that much oil or filters. Walmart would probably be the cheapest. I know of many shops around here that buy all their oil at wal-mart because it's much cheaper than any other source--cheaper than having a 55 gallon drum. Supertech filters are made by champ labs and are one of the better made filters--far better than FRAM IMO. Cost, less than 2.00 most places. If you are intent on saving some money, the supertech oil is made by quakerstate-pennzoil and works just fine--I've used it for years and costs .84 a quart, also usually in gallons as well.

Thanks guys, I didn't even think to check wally world

I'm just being **** about spending because I just started school, don't have a job, and I'll be driving approx. 600 miles a week. So all the money I spend will be coming out of a fund that I saved up while working.

Can I get the supertech brand at walmart?

Thanks guys

P.S. No, the wear and tear won't be going on the 69,000 mile IROC, it'll be going on the ranger beater

If you have a farming area nearby check the bulk fuel dealers as they usually have good pricing on oil and filters.

Supertech is the wal-mart brand, so yes you can get it at wal-mart.

AC Delco is trying to (re)create their image as a supplier of auto parts to professional garages. Their goal is to be a NAPA like organization that caters to the professional, hence stopped selling to the mass mechandisers.

My girlfriend couldn't find the size filter in AC Delco she needed at any of the parts places around here, so she went to the dealership for it. They told her that the standard size delco for the SBC was discontinued, and replaced with a smaller filter.

I use a pf35 i think it was, also you can use the 1218... I have heard that they stopped making the 35 as well...... for the dude that wants bulk oil go to some local shops and ask what they do... mostly there are local distributors who sell filters, as for oil most shops get from wherever they can get it CHEAP, sometimes even walmart

Most oil and lubrricant distributors will offer 5G pails, 30 and 55G drums, and 300G totes. Larger quantities are of course available. When I was purchasing a boatload of oil, the price was the same regardless of the container size. There was a surcharge for 5G containers, since they are not reusable. There was also a drum deposit.

One thing to consider is that if you're going to be completely legal, you need a containment system equal to the capacity of the largest single storage container, or equal to 10% of the total stored volume, whichever is smaller. You may also need to report that quantity in some states to the state EPA or your local emergency preparedness organization, such as HazMat team or fire department. They may also require that you track usage and generate disposal records. They may require you to sprinkle, identify, berm, or otherwise modify the stoage building. If it happens to be in your house, that could get costly and cumbersome.

Getting a 55G or larger drum might be convenient, but it might not be as convenient as it appears on the surface.

I think the 5G size would be optimal for me, I'll have to look into it. That is, unless I have to outfit my house with insulation and a sprinkler system

Thanks again guys
