distributor help / pickup coil?
I'm getting spark from my coil to the distributor, but not getting any to the plugs. I replaced the coil this morning with a brand new MSD Blaster coil, a new cap, and new rotor. The spring in the old cap rattled and the new one didn't, so I figured that was my problem. I've replaced the ignition module on Thursday and tested the pickup coil while I was in there. The pickup coil tests fine. I also replaced the ESC about six months ago.
Could it be that the pickup coil's testing fine but not putting out enough to get the car started?

possibly the lil circuit board underneath the cap... doubftfully though...
how did u rule out the pick-up coil? your testing method may be wrong...
aint much about an ignition system....your new igniton module may be bad ( i know its new, i bought a new coil and it ended up being bad, led me tearing down wires for 3 weeks, tore my truck up cause of it)
Try snatching one from someones car that you know works, rule it out for good (the tests they perform on them can show they are good but still not be)
try these thigns first

Circuit board under the cap?
I assume you're talking about a coil-in-cap distributor? I've got a remote coil.
I've replaced the new ignition module with the old one already and getting the same thing.
The pickup coil is ruled out because I replaced it with a new one.
I'm getting spark at the plugs now. I've got good fuel pressure. I'm starting to wonder if maybe my injectors aren't pulsing.
The coil I replaced with the MSD definitely was bad though. I wasn't getting hardly any spark out of it.
Edit that...
I'm not getting spark at the plugs. It's firing every now and then at the plugs. I hooked up the timing light to the coil wire and it lights up, no problem. I'm not getting any light flash whatsoever at any of the plug wires.
I've replaced...
coil
pickup coil
rotor
cap
ignition module
esc (6 months ago)
What am I missing here?

if you are getting spark from the coil to the cap but not to the wires your cap has a problem,i hope i read your statement correctly....is the contact still on the rotor, something here is being overlooked.

just cause its new doesnt mean its functional..
if u get a spark every now n then, i would assume your caps points are messed up or your pick-up coil (regardless of how new it is) is bad..
for an example, i bought a brand new coil and it was bad... led me on a wild goose chase cause
a. I had the attitude u had, its new it MSUT work
b. they told me for sure they knew the coil was good, when in fact it wasnt.
there is a way to test the pick-up coil without removing the distrib, i dont remember how i did mine in my truck, i think i traced the wire and i think it had to pump out between .5 -1.5 volts....
i could be wrong but do some research/call n ask around..

I'm still toying with it during my breaks from building the new motor.
I've tested the pickup coil, continuity through every line I can find, used two different ignition modules, etc. Everything I've tested tests out fine.
The only thing I haven't tested is the ESC. Is there anyway to test that? I can't afford to shell out another $70 to buy another one and it not be the problem.

from what i heard theres no way to test it, just replace it and see if it fixes it...
I hope i'm proven wrong for your sake, but i dont think theres a way to test them.
