Fan Belt Routing Idea, Please Help

I would like to remove the emissions air pump right under my A,C compressore for a cleaner look. Now, the last time I tried this, every one who replied focused on the cat, and all they would write about was how the cat was going to clog up over time. The cat has been removed and all the air lines tothe cat and exaust manifolds. I have headers now, so the engine lookes clean except for that pump that makes a loud grinding sound. I have a 1991 Trans Am Formula. Itseems that the air pump pulley is reslly needed in the routing, so here are my quetions. here is a pic of the oem set up. Will this other way work? How do I get a shorter custom belt?
Let meknow if you have anyideas, thanks
