torque converter, and o2 sensor?

Does anyone here know of a good reference to give me information about torque converters, and what advantages certain ones have over others?

And In the process of putting headers and dual exhaust I removed the o2 sensor since i didn't want to weld in a port for my headers. Just read in another post that the CC Qjet needs it? Should I just go for a Holley carb that doesn't need an o2 sensor?

Thanks for your time.
