I was trying to adjust my IAC according to the tech article, but ran into a small problem. After I disconnect the sensor and try to start the car, it does not start. I can press on the gas and it will start, but that will not let me set the idle. Am I reading it wrong or is my car fubar'ed?
Thanks
Jeremy

Jmon,
The engine should be fully warmed before performing and adjustments. A cold engine will probably not idle without the IAC operating, and a warm engine will just barely idle.
If your engine is warmed and it still will not idle with the IAC disconnected, increase the throttle opening by adjusting the stop screw to a point where it will idle.
If the Tech Articles instructions are not clear, check these instructions:

Ok Vader,
I tried to set the IAC and when the car started it went to like 2000rpm. I tried to back out the screw on the linkage, but the linkage would not go back. the screw went in, but the stuff did not follow. Any Ideas.

Jmon,
Once the IAC is reinstalled, the pintle needs to be fully extended in the throttle body. This is done by jumping the diagnostic terminal to ground on the ALDL and turning on the ignition for at least 20 seconds. While the ignition is on, you should be able to hear the IAC motor stepping closed. After the time period and while the ignition is still on, unplug the IAC electrical connector. This should have the IAC set in a fully closed position. If the engine still idles too high, the throttle plates are sticking open slightly or there is a significant vacuum leak somwhere in the system.

Thanks vader I will keep working on it. Was going to try a test run today, but am not going to try it in the snow we got last night, roads bad.

Jmon,
Yup. Even with a Posi axle, this stuff is a serious traction challenge. My best 1/4 mile time is now somewhere over 45 seconds. 60-fott times are terrible, and I can't blame it on my slow reaction times now...
