engine idles at 1000rpm at stop.....
hi,
just as the subject says, my engine has begun to idle in drive at 1000rpms or over. in park she idles at 1500. this just began today after months of idling at 750 or below in the drive gears. friday is my day off so thats when im gonna pop the hood and see whats wrong. any suggestions would be fine. the sig has the engine type and mods.

86 camaro cpe(dont laugh)has 92z28 body kit with GTS covers, new red paint and a killer stereo. 2 amps, 8 speakers, disc changer, custom install with subs coming by the end of the summer. sawpped (or in the process of) 305lg4 for brand new 350. TES headers, flowmaster cat back, performer manifold, TCI converter, jet chip, kn with dual snorkel cleaner. and she still passed the sniffer!

Start with checking the blades so that they arent stuck then check TPS and IAC to make sure its set correct. Check out https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/tpimod2.shtml. Maybe your IAC are fried..

That, Or Throttle blades 
Is your car Carbureted or Injected ?
If its Carbed, Look For Stuff getting in the way of the trottle mechnsm, Make sure it is seated Against the idle screw when The car is idleing
Does it have a Fast idle Solenoid ? is it working properly ?

My '85 Firebird does the same thing EVERY winter ever since I drove it, brand new, off the dealer's lot. The ECM apparently never caught on to slow the idle down once the coolant reaches 180*. Only when spring comes around and the outside temp stays above 50, then the idle comes back down and it nice and slow. I've checked the resistance of the coolant temp sensor (not the overtemp switch) and it seems to be O.K.--as the temp goes up, the resistance drops.
My other car, my trusty parts-gofer/dirt road beater, 1985 Olds 88 does the same thing when it gets cold (the car runs much better than it looks!)
So it must be a common problem with the ECMs of that year.
