Questions About 99 Chevy Van?

my dad has a 99 chevy have with a vortec 5.7 and the the servive engine light is on. Does anyone know what pins do you have to jump together to get the codes from this model and were can i find what out what each number is?

DO NOT TRY THIS ON ANY 94 AND NEWER VEHICLES. you can fry the PCM by trying to jump a 94+ car. You have to use a scanner to retrieve the codes. in 96 they changed to OBD II and there are many many more codes now anyway so there is no way they could flash the codes.

Listen to the man in diamondback boots - Don't try to jump anything on the ALDL/PCM interface. Get an OBD II scanner instead.

If you want a listing of OBD II DTCs, check SAE Publication J-2012. It's about ten pages.
