Should my new fuel pump wail?

I recently had a holley 255LPH electric pump installed. It flows great but it whines something mean almost consistently. I also installed an AFPR that I have toned down to around 50... It gives me some problems right now at idle because it often tries to die, my Air/Fuel gauge indicates at those times.. its not getting fuel. Im confused.

Every high flow fuel pump I've ever heard was pretty noisy. I could be completely wrong but are you sure it's not running too rich and thats why it's cutting out at idle? I wouldn't put too much trust in an A/F gauge.
