Dang it all...... New "smoking" engine

Dang it all...... New "smoking" engine

Had brand new 305 dropped in my '89 IROC a year and hald ago.... within 17,000 miles the bugger puffs blue, yes BLUE smoke when I accelerate.... Uuuugggg....

Though there is a 36,000 mile Wrranty on it... do ya'll think it is a stuck vale, worn vale seats, defect in one of the rings, etc....

Any input???

might be nothing to worry about, compression, leak down and oil preasure would indicate a problem. i've saw lot of healthy engines make a puff of bluish smoke when under acceleration.

99 times out of 100 it's the valve guide seals. Assuming you changed the oil regularly and took good care of it otherwise.

The seals can be installed wrong, might have "walked" off the top of the valve guide boss, etc.

It's the seals (intake side being the prime offender). It's ALWAYS the seals.
