Maximum compression for stock 305 heads
The car is 88 T/A with 305 TPI
I am rebuilding my engine and I ordered pistons 0.30 over but my friend tells me that compression would be to big for my stock heads
So what should I do to the heads to be able to use them with my engine?
Would it possible to use them or do I have to go with aftermarket heads (no ca$h
) ?

just a .030 overbore will not raise your compression much if you have the stock type pistons. if you got dome pistons however you may have problems. the iron heads can tolerate about 10.5 to one with a healthy cam and polished chambers if you plan to run 93 octane all the time. more than that and you are looking at race gas.

Don't listen to your friend.
The actual compression ratio will only be slightly higher, if at all. A replacement head gasket is thicker than the origional which lowers the compression ratio.
