oil pressure jumping

I have a 91 camaro 305/auto. The oil pressure guage jumps sometimes and the engine will stumble. If anyone has had this problem please let me know.
thanks

well, you just happened to be looking at the oil pressure guage when the engine stumbled i bet. when your RPMs bounce arouns the oil pressure will bounce because the pump is directly effected by the rpms the engineis running at. you may be looking at a different problem, like your fuel system.

also, you are a new member, so im going to assume you are just learning about engines. read this board, itll teach you a lot about thirdgens and cars in general. ive read just about every post that is tech related since i have become a member. that was when i was 15 years old and now i would like to think i know quite a bit about cars in general. the more you read the more you can do. soon ill be attempting to build my own engine.

o ya, and dont believe everything you read unless it is posted by someone like Vader. if you assume someone knows what they are talking about and then repeat their stupidity, it just makes you look like a "magazine mechanic"

oil preasure is partly dependent on engine speed so it the engine stumbles your rpm drops and the oil preasure goes down as well.

Actually the pressure guage went up then immediately the engine stumbled. I was thinking that maybe the sending unit is going bad and effecting the computer. But I really dont know. It seems like the oil pressure is causing the stumble, not the other way around.
thanks for the help

I agree with the others, that the pressure gauge flux is more of an effect than a cause of the stumble.

If there was a short in the gauges sender wire, it would probably go off the scale. If there was a short in the gauges power wire, then it would probably just blow the fuse. Something to rule out...
