...couldn't you just get away with drilling the distributor hole and then run the steam holes in the back of the heads to the thermostat adapter? That way you dont have to run the steam line back into the cooling system from the back of the heads. I can have the heads modified pretty cheap...found out a friend of mine has some nicely ported LT1's sitting in his garage with an intake. I figured the holes might need to be opened up, but I think that would work, wouldn't it?
Be alot easier than drilling the fittings into the intake at just the right spot. Was kind of a PITA when I converted mine. Just wondering. Always looking to try something new and unusual

I don't know how much room is back there in an f-body (behind the heads). My firewall seems very close.
Anyway, it is possible to run a LT1 intake AND heads on a SBC. There was an article someone scanned. I saved it on my server. Here's the link:

TPI-Roc did the LT1 head conversion his way. He has a very good post here with pictures of the entine process. i saved the link to that tread because I think it's GREAT if all you have is a stock SBC you want to convert to LT1 heads and intake.

I'm interested in do this, but with L99 heads on a 305. One of the big problems with building a cheap 305 seems to be heads. 305 vortecs aren't actually vortecs at all. You can mill down some L31 vortecs, but then you're way down on compression and can't go very aggressive with a cam. The L99 heads are actual vortecs, heart-shaped combustion chamber and everything, but they're combustion chambers are tiny. I can't find exact specs on the internet, but they're somewhere around 44-48 cc. Bolt that on a 305 and you have a compression around 11:1, compression ripe for some serious duration! If they flow well, they could be great considering you can get a whole L99 for next to nothing.

I checked this thread out, but all the pictures are gone.
