Vacuum line on heater controls ??

Here is my question. Is there a vacuum line that goes from the heater controls to the engine?
I had a fire in my passenger side engine compartment awhile back. Since then I only have defrost . Any help will be welcome

Thanks

There's two, actually. One leads from the vac port on the intake manifold assembly to the heater control head, where it is routed between all of the separate flapper doors to control where the air goes through the ducting. Not having a V8, I can only tell you that mine is on the driver's side connected between the vacuum outlet at the back of my upper plenum and the vacuum lines leading to the cruise control assembly and the vacuum tank.

Also, on the passesnger side on most thirdgens, I believe, there will be another line leading to the heater control valve from the heater control head.

It sounds like the vacuum inlet line to the control head is gone, and the defrost setting is the default setting for the head if there is no vacuum present, for safety reasons, I suppose.

There should be a main vacuum diagram located somewhere under the hood unless it was destroyed in you fire. The diagram for the heater controls is here:

That's funny, I copied it right off of the page when I went there to get the right link. Oh well, I'll have to try again. If it doesn't work, go to the Thirdgen.org home page and go to the Tech Articles section. The link is called 86 Wiring diagrams and is found in the Electrical section of that page. When you get to the 86 Wiring main page, go down to Air Conditioning and the link is called Vacuum Controls....

Okay, so it is not working. Oh well, I tried twice...!

Let's see if this works Maverick H1L!

It works now. What I did was go to that page and bookmarked it. I then copied the bookmark and inserted it here.
Hope this helps.

yep.

tripod won't allow files to be accessed unless they are linked through a tripod webpage, i.e. *.html, or *.htm

so either create a small page that links to the picture., or give the address of the page that the link to the picture is on.

I still get the same thing. I don't get it... It worked every other time...

Anyways, I figured it out: You have to copy and paste the link for it to work.

That's what I did Maverick H1l, I copied it as a bookmark and formed a link to it. Then copied the bookmark and pasted it into my post. When ever I click on the one in my post it goes right to it. This is getting stranger still, I just clicked on the link in both your posts and it goes right to it or did you change them? Scottland says they don't work for him. Maybe his computer has to form a link to that page

No, I took the text in the forum and copied it directly into the Address bar in IE. Then it worked. I still am in the dark as to why that is happening... it never did that before and I have done the same any number of times...

I've done it several times also without any problems except when I first started. Do you think perhaps there is a ghost in the system
