Steering column from HELL!!!
Steering column from HELL!!!
So I had the wobbly loose torx screw problem. Had everything in place and when I went to take out the pivot pins on the tilt one of the screws broke in it. So I went out and chased down one of those Snap-On tool guys and bought the appropriate tool. The tool broke inside the other hole as well!
So after one hour of drilling I gave up and dropped by my local junkyard and picked up a column for $50.
But there is one small problem. Usually when you park the car and remove the key you can turn the steering wheel and it will "lock" in place. This one just keeps moving around even after I put the car in Park and remove the key. I liked this feature and would like to repair it, so how would I go about doing that?

There is a small steel rod inside the steering column that is rotated out of the way of a serrated wheel when the key is turned to the on position. This steel rod in the serrated wheel is what keeps the steering wheel from turning when the key is removed. Either the steel rod or the serrated wheel or both have been removed at some point.
