what is the fastest engine in a 3rd gen?

stock, i think the fastest was the TTA... dont quote me on that, im not sure.

Do you mean stock factory or modded. The most powerfull engine that came in a 3rd gen was the 350 TPI at 245hp and 345ft lbs. And it is no where near as fast as an LS1. The LS1 makes a solid 100hp more and a bit more torque. There are many guys who have serious motor work done, weather it be an engine swap or a buildup of what they have, and they are faster than an LS1. A stock LS1 however, will make a stock L98 its b**ch.

You are right. Mr Dude is right and I forgot about the TTA. But that is so rare it doesn't really get mentioned and is often overlooked since it is an exception to the rule. Those are low 13 second cars and can dip into the 12's with ease with a few simple mods.
