Web site to look up ACDelco part numbers?
Web site to look up ACDelco part numbers?
I just bought an ACDelco CTS for an '89 L98 and the part number is 12146312. Is this the correct part? Reason I ask is that the parts guy said it was for a 5.0 liter TPI but I have a 5.7. They don't return electrical part eighter if they were installed.

Slow,
The CTS resistance ranges haven't changed for about eleventy-seven years, along with just about all other GM temperature sensors, whether they are IAT, MAT, CTS, whatever they are sensing. The big differences are the sensor body size and threads, and the electrical connector styles. If it fits your connector, it's the right one.
As for the parts lookup, there is no direct site that gets you into the GM Bell & Howell parts catalog system. If you know the part number, there are a few sites where you can plug in the number and find the application, but not to lookup parts for your application in every case.
I wish someone would find a back door into the Bell & Howell system so people could find the part numbers, applications, diagrams, availability, etc. (Hint-Hint!)

Actually other than style and size, there is 2 types of sensors. One is for a guage. The other for an idiot light. I've seen people use guage sending units with idiot lights. As the temperature rises, the idiot light gets brighter.

I gues you could call them "sensors" in a purely technical sense. I call those digital devices "temperature switches" and the analog devices "sensors", even though they both sense a condition and act on it.
I guess it's just a throwback to the days when we called everything a "switch" because tha's all most of them did.
