Why does my RS have a deceleration valve?

My RS has a deceleration valve, but my other Camaro does not. Why? What other differences are there between my engines.

Are you refering to the EFE (Early Fuel Evaportion) valve off the exhaust manifold towards the Y-pipe? That is to help warm the vehicle (engine) up during cold starts.

No it's called the deceleration valve. It sits to the right of the alternator, and has three vacuum lines attached to it.

HIX,

This is also called a diverter valve. It dumps the excess air from the A.I.R. pump to the atmoshere instead of the manifolds or cat when decellerating to preven cat overheating and burnout from lean exhaust gas and the resultant high temperatures.
