AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! The vin tag is missing!

The 82' Z28 I'm looking at is missing the VIN tag. The guy is a coworker of my father and says that he bought it from a usedcar dealership. The original engine has been replaced with a 350, so where else can I find some VIN #'s so i can check if its been stolen? This blows!

No mods yet...Hopefully:
Convert to dual-cat with headers and Borla catback exhaust.
Edelbrock MPFI system.
RAM air hood & Z28 wing.
Z28 cam.
ABS system.
Positraction rearend with rear disc brakes.
Rebuilt front and rearend suspension with polygraphite bushings.
Strutbrace.
Rollbar.

There are many different places that they put the VIN. Best bet is to call the local law enforcement and ask them of how to go about it.

Definitely contact the police. It also may have been a wrecked/written off vehicle from some other state (or country) and illegal to registered for the road.

If a wrecked vehicle IS resurrected, where I live, the province issues you a new VIN with an "R" in the front.

Three locations I can think of are...

Center console w/ RPO codes
On the driver's door inside of the jamb
On the original buildsheet (mine was under the bottom of the rear seat, this is going to be the hardest to find).

I would contact the local law enforcement unless the dealer also has a title for the car w/ VIN number on it.

Car: To many to list
If the rear quarter panals are still original they should have them on the inside.

Mine has the VIN number on the underside of the hood. It's only on a sticker though, so if they went through the trouble of removing the VIN from under the windshield...It's worth a try though.

Yet another location: Mine has a sticker with the VIN on it under the rear hatch near the striker on the hatch.
