Crank question

hello everyone, I purchased a gta with a bad engine. engine can not be rebuilt. I have a complete 350 block ( a 350 is a 350 ) the internals however are not. the engine came out of a late 80's truck and I was wondering about the crank? What kind of crank would be found in a 89 gta? I am trying to put this car back to stock with maybe a mild upgrade.

Both should be 1-pc rearmain seal cranks..assuming "late-80's".

The only right thing to do is to look up the casting numbers on a site like www.Mortec.com

The casting numbers on older blocks are on the driver's side of the block where the tranny bolts on.

One a newer block they're the passenger's side where the tranny bolts on.

If you chose to swap cranks, keep the rods and crank together AND mark the rods according to what cylinder they came out of. The rods and crank are balanced from GM, and you'll want to save some time and money by keeping it that way.

Chances are, if the truck was a 87-up TBI 350, it's got the same crank casting # as the GTA. Both kinds of engine had cast-iron cranks.

Like AJ said, keep the moving parts from each engine together as a set if they're still a factory set, it'll save you some trouble and grief in the long run.
