starting...

about 2 weeks ago I went to start my car and it turned over really slow like the battery was dead. So I put the charger on it for a while and tried to start it again and my gages all came on and I don't know about the speedometer but the tach jumped all the way to 6000 which is the highest reading but it didn't start. Then I decided to put the charger on the jump start setting and it fired right up. I let it run for a good 10-15 minutes revving the engine up etc and shut it off. I started it again a cppl days later and it fired right up. I went back out to start it again a cppl days later and it was was completely dead again, so I tried my lights and the radio and everything worked. So I put the battery charger on it again and left it on for several hours this time. Went to start it again and it fired up fine. Went back out the next day and it started but right before she fired it sounded like it was going low on juice. So I got in and put it in gear cuz I was gonna drive it this time and I it stalled cuz the rpms drop too much when it's real cold out sometimes. So of course the battery was dead again and I left the charger on for about 8-9 hrs this time and so far it's been fine. My dad says I probably have a loose connection somewhere but whenever I put the charger on it fires up and my lights and radio work even when it's deader than dead. I had problems w/the starter grinding earlier- could it just be the starter going bad?

Sounds like you should do a battery load test, and also a starter draw test. I suspect your starter is getting old, and is drawing more than the battery can provide to start your car.

Good luck
