Does anyone know how to remove the turn signal lever in our cars? My broke so I got a replacement. Do I have to tear apart the steering column? I have the steering wheel off, but how do I remove that plastic cover on the column?

give it a 1/4 to 1/2 turn back towards you, or counter clockwise looking in on it. i can't remember what way to turn it. just start twisting and it'll come lose. it just locks in a groove.

It comes straight out, NO turning. Make sure all your cruise control, wiper modes are turned off, and that it is in the middle, not downward for left turn signal or upward for right turn signal. If any of those apply, it will not come straight out. This is assuming that all turn signal levers for all third gens are the same. I just changed mine out.

Attach a piece of line to the end of the turn harness. Or you will never be able to fish the new harness hanging off the stalk down the steering column.

It pulled straight out. The new one slid right in. I cut the old harness and taped the new one to it and tried to pull it through the column...wouldn't work. I eventually got fed up with it and cut the new harness 3" before the connector. I then taped it to the old harness and it slid right through. I soldered the connections and it works just fine. Thanks for the help. This proccess wasn't in my Haynes manual at all. Is there any other manual that is available that is more detailed when it comes to our 3rd gen. repair?
