Is the carbon canister vacuum solenoid important?
The TPI system I recently installed had all emissions removed, (EGR and carbon canister solenoid) and they were removed from the ECM programming also.
Since I'm finding the EGR may be part of my detonation problem, I'm wondering if the carbon canister solenoid is important in any way to engine operation?
I know its main function is to burn off any gas fumes/pollutants from the fuel tank, but any bad effects by removing it from operation?
I do have it hooked up to a vacuum line now, just no solenoid to be controlled by the ECM.
Thanks

Yanked mine and never had a problem. For extra insurance against tank "suck" Plug the line coming from the tank and use a vented cap (Some already have these for some reason... Found one in the junkyard)
I wouldn't recommend leaving the line waivin' around under the car open. Just pinch the steel line w/ vice grips and weld it (Just kiddin') or properly plug it at the tank for neater apperance. Lot of hoses and wires/relays you can get rid of from getting rid of smog, a/c, A.I.R. I can actually see my motor now!!
