Belts, which do I have
This might sound like a dumb question, but how do I know if I have a v-belt, or the serpintine belt. I have a L03 engine

a serpentine belt is just ONE flat belt that spins everything. alt.,water pump, ac compressor, AIR pump. usually if you have v-belts you will have like 3 of them. and they are shaped like a V. yours is an '89 so i'm 99% sure you have a serpintine belt.

Just pop your hood and take a gander at your belt(s). If you have one long belt that snakes around to all the accesories and crank and such, you have a serpentine belt. It'll also have 5 or 6 grooves on one side of the belt. On the other hand, if you have V-belts, you'll have a couple belt, most or all of them running off the crank pulley to different accesories, and your pulleys and belts will have one, large, single groove in the shape of a "V".
