Why don't the Tranny fit???

OK heres the deal....
I pulled my block out cause basically i had nothing to do(first time on my camaro). my friend had a performane clutch he gave to me for pretty cheap so i decided to put it on. when i go to put the block back in, the tranny wont go completely into the block. the bellhousing is about 1/2 inch from the block. did i not push the pilot bushing in far enough or something. im pretty sure i installed the clutch disc the right way. advice, please, before i rent the cherrypicker again.

thx in advance...

you should pull the trans from the bellhousing and install the bellhousing first.

yeah most people normally pull the trans to r&r the clutch. try drawing the bell up to the block with the bolts. if it's 1/2" away from the block it's on the dowells.

no, theres 4 15 or 16mm bolts on the 4 corners of the tranny, and theres 6 or 7 15 mm bolts that hold the BH to the block...
