I beg to differ. Not all pre 85 long waterpump brakets work with all 350's. for example I went through 3 brackets before I got one that worked. Somehow my alternator was too big for the bracket or something. Just make sure they have a good return policy.

The alternators are the same, up until they changed to the other side of the car. The internally-regulated ones are even the same dimensions as the old ones with the external regulator (71-back or thereabouts).
The older brackets bolted to a stud that was on the water outlet, instead of a bolt being there. The newer ones bolt to a specific boss on the front of the manifold; that boss is about an inch in front of and about a half inch below and to the right of the water outlet bolt. Get the right bracket and put it in the right place, it'll work right; with stock intakes anyway, or at least intakes that have the water outlet in the exact stock location.
Some very early long water pumps also had the boss for the bottom of that bracket about 3/4" rearward of the later ones. SO sometimes you need a spacer between the bolt hole on the bracket, and the bolt hole boss on the water pump.
