CODE 33,34,54
I have just gotton a supro engine diagnostic thing and it came up with code 33,34,35 i looked in the book that came with it code 33,34 are map and mas i have a brand new mas airflow sensor so I'm guessing that is a map sensor then and code 54 said 3 different things somehting about the fuel pump and some other sensor which would it be. Problems I've had
When car is hot {running 50 miles or so} then is restarted it takes a little cranking to get it going {ie cold morning starts right up} and it smells rich i mean like stick you nose to the fuel hose while pumping rich :-) and when I nail the brakes hard it seems to flood the engine and kill it and it has to site a good 2-3 minutes before it will restart otherwise it just cranks. Please help me out thatx

Michael,
If you have a new MAF sensor, it's likely because the old one failed. If you didn't clear the ECM of the error codes when the MAF was installed, you'll still read them.
Clear and reinitialize the ECM, then scan for codes again. I'll bet they're gone.

I'll bet they aren't heeh
I had to replace the starter recently and I disconnected the batt then just incase Hell I was in a mcdonalds parking lot with ****ing snow on the ground I wasn't taking any chances :-)
The MAF was changed prior to me changing the starter.... Any other clues
Ibelieve its the damn MAP sensoR {WHERE THE HELL IS THAT} I also have a vacumm line broke off to the left side of the engine by the air conditioner dryer. Its supposed to be attached to this wierd oval shaped black thing right above and behind the EGR valve. Any clues what the hell this part is and where it can be found along with the new hoses since they are broken {one anyway}
:-)
cheers

You have a MAF sensor, not MAP. With you getting a code 33 AND a code 34 I would check the wiring harnes connector at the MAF sensor for corrosion. Clean the contacts of both the connector and on the MAF sensor and see if that helps. Also check your TPS voltage, there is an article in the tech section on how to do it.... That little sensor can cause havoc with the MAF codes.

Michael,
You might want to look at the MAF relay (a 173 only has a power relay, no burnoff relay). Check the connector at the relay and at the MAF, as Kevin recommended. He also makes an excellent point about the TPS. The code '35' indicates an IAC problem, and the '54' indicates a low voltage to the fuel pump (and possibly to the ECM itself). It sounds like you have some electrical connection issues. Do you live near an ocean shore or in th egreat midwest, where the roads are "seasoned" every winter? Salt spray kills connections in a hurry.
You could also check the intake ductwork. A new MAF might not have sealed completely in the ducts, and the ducts might have splits or cracks that are leaking unmetered air (there was a TSB from GM on this problem).
