AFR or Brodix

I'm in the beginning stages of a 383 project, and right now I'm looking at some heads for future purchase. They'll be either AFR or Brodix.
This will be for an EFI car with an LT1 induction system, and what I'd like is a pretty steady idle, and a powerband that pulls up to maybe 5500. So I'm going with either the Comp XR269HR, XR276HR (both 112*lsa) or GM Hotcam. And I need to decide on what CR would work with that.
I'd like to be able to use 87octane for commuting then switch to higher octane for having fun, with an adjustment to timing.
So with that in mind, what's a good CR to aim for?
I've read that larger chamber heads flow better and it's good to get those, and then mill the heads to tailor the CR to match your needs. Any words of advice on that?
I still haven't bought my pistons so there's a lot of room to play around here.
What is a good combo of pistons and heads for this purpose?

i ordered a set of afr heads for my 409. i should be getting them very soon. ive never used brodix. i have heard that afrs are the best. i sure hope so .

I would say AFR , from what I have seen of them they are the better head. Brodix isnt bad or anything but I have seen more people choose AFR than Brodix or any other head. Im not an expert and cant give you the exact diffrence, other than the fact that AFR's are CNC'd and the Brodix is a cast head meaning a better finish on the AFR's. I want a set of the AFR's but I gotta do body work and paint first!
