Is this worthwile doing?

A friend of mine recommended a little trick to get my lg4 running little bit better. He said to run one quart of new oil, about 3 quarts of diesal through the engine for about five min. then drain and fill with new oil. He said he did this with all of his used cars and it made a big difference in how they ran.
but my dads mechanic said that doing this on a car with 130k(i think) miles would make the pushrods, valve springs and a couple other things that I can't remember right now come loose.
Bottom line is this something to do or not?
Thanks.

its ok to do something close to that! but dont use diesel! just go to wal-mart and get a bottle of motor flush and put it in you engine but the engine has to be at level with oil 5 quarts! plus the filter! and put it in the crankcase or oil fill hole! and run the car, but dont drive it!!!!!!!!! let it run exatly 15 minutes and shut it off and change oil like you normally would. it wont hurt a thing i do this every time i change the oil it keeps things from gunking up, oil pressure high and engine clean! it wont distrub a thing. not matter what milage!! i do that to my brand new engine after about 7,000 miles!

i've heard a lot of diferant things for this. i think the only thing i'd use would be ATF other than oil and not much of it. you might want to try synthetic oil, it'll clean out an engine pretty good too.

Jay,

I would avoid the diesel fuel as well. Diesel fuel is basically low-grade kerosene with anti-gel and water dispersing additives. It will lubricate a little, and will thin the oil a lot. It can also loosen a lot of the deposits in the engine all at once, and some of those might cause problems at the pickup screen, oil pump, or other areas.

Synthetic engine oil cleans very well, but more slowly. You might try using it for the next couple of oil changes to start cleaning the engine. Don't run the oil more than a few thousand miles if you suspect a lot of contamination - the filter will clog and go to full bypass.
