heads and header fitting question

I was putting on my new headers. Dynomax shorties and they fit in with alittle work but in the head theres this bolt that sticks out. it sticks out further then the ports makin it so i cant bolt the header on unless i take the bolt out. the motor is an 86 350 crate motor and the side im workin on is the side with the starter on it. can somebody tell me what this bolt is for and if i can take it off or grind it down ?

sounds like a pipe plug to me, or that's all i can think off, is it between 1 and 3 or 6 and 8? if it is i believe it's a pipe plug and you need it. you can cut the header flange between each tube(s) to make room for it, or grind the flange untill you have enough clearance.

it's a pipe plug or a sender, either way you need it. read my other reply for a fix.
