need cam advice
hi guys, first post. ive got an 85 berlinetta with an lg4 and AOD.i was wondering if i could get a few cam recommendations?its totally stock. putting on cheapy flowtechs in the next couple weeks, but planning on cam too.its a dail driver. i dont want an only dragstrip car,if i was doing that id start with a $500.00 camaro.this one only has 96000 miles and is nearly mint.im just looking to make it a little respectable for now,and when the mileage gets up there, then its time to get sick!
i know the lg4 has about 150 hrspwr.im estimating that with the headers and a cat back ill gain maybe 20.id like to get at least around the 210-225 area.oh, yeah, its got 3.08 gears stock converter etc. thanks

Comp XE256 at the most
You're wasting most of your time and money until you get that entire exhaust system off of it, and replace it with something that allows the engine to breathe. When I say "entire exhaust system", I mean "entire exhaust system"; every single piece, all the way from the heads to the street. Get a set of chassis-specific headers, but for some other car, NOT FOR LG4; something like Edelbrock or SLP, for something like a 88 TPI 350, plus the cat and cat-back for the came application. DO NOT get ANYTHING that will bolt to LG4, because if you do, it will preserve the bottleneck; which is the tiny drinking-straw sized Y-pipe. Do the whole system all at once since it will be incompatible with all of what's on there now.

thanks. forgot to say its already got a new dynomax cat back installed by the previous owner 2 weeks before i got it.rite now im gonna be have to be happy with the flowtechs and the dynomax .budget constraints, you know.once i sell off some parts and stuff ive got sitting around for various past projects ill use that money to upgrade. i was already planning on some world heads. ive used and liked em in the past. also planning on getting better headers from acs or jet hot.right now ill be happy if i can get it in the 15s
