Best Mods for 1986 Pontiac TA low output

Ever since I have bought my car I have wondered if I should keep the low output 305. Can I make it fast for being a carbuerated 305? Is it worth it? and does it cost all that much? Any advice would help from anyone who has experience with these cars. Advice on best mods or things to do to my car would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

Since you are in Kalifornia, Kevin has about the best idea if you have $4000 to burn. I'm betting you dont, so now you have to decide what you want. You can get away with a better cam, and I think the Edelbrock Performer manifold is considered a stock replacement part. Throw some headers on it, go to the carb board and find out about doing some minor mods to the stock carb, and you should be putting out some decent power for a 305. The other major restriction on a 305 is the heads, but thats gonna run ya about $800. You have to decide how much you want, and if its worth it to throw that much into a 305. The 350 is another option, and I really doubt anyone would notice that its not a 305. They look the same, only the casting numbers are different.
