Contaminated Oil
I can't drive my car frequently and recently there was a cold spell here (calgary alberta) where it was consistanly minus forty (degress celcius) for a few weeks and as such I couldn't run my car at all (I dont drive it right now)
anyhow, its finally above zero here and yesterday I fired ip up without issue, so tonight I went and started it up again, and while it was running i checked the oil and noticed it was way up the dipstick and tinged green. So I immidiately shut off the car, drained some oil into a bottle and found out its contaminated with gas (and possibly coolant, though I really really hope not) anyways I was wondering what I should do in this situation. Asides from the cam break in, and the forty kilometeres I've brought it from the shop at school to my house, the engines has no wear on it. So Im just wondering if it might have somehow gotten flooded on one of my attempts to start it, and the oil has just seeped past the rings or??
Im really not sure here.

Well Im hoping its just gas, but the concern I have with that is the volume of it: the level on the dipstick was about 1/3 -1/2 the way up it (it was a coupla inches past full). Also Im not sure if its at all signiicant, but the oil had a greenish tinge to it and is somewhat cloudy...
Also I can't rightfully think of how it would have gotten that flooded ever.

Was the coolant low? Thats an awefull lot of gas but not more than a leaky injector could drop in an engine over that amount of time. If coolants still low you might want to check them out.

Apparently I had forgot one important thing before posting this: (also I had checked the coolant, and it wasn't noticably down...) my engine was rebuilt with generous amounts of assembly lube. So in conjunction with the gas contamination (due to my bad battery, and trying to start it as such) So the solution Im going for is to change the oil immediately, and then again after about five hundred K or like a month, whichever comes first really.
Im hoping this is the entire contamination issue, but if not I'll keep you posted.
(also its a carburated car.

With my old motor I had a small intake-gasket leak that slowly filled my motor with gas and coolant. For a few days I couldnt figure out why the car was running funny... Anyway after a few days of not-running-so-great I'm driving home from somwhere and hit the gas. I noticed at like 5000RPM the oil pressure was only at like 35PSI ...by then its usually pegged on the guage. Anyway, I get home and check the oil. Its all crappy looking and smells like gas and antifreeze. I change the oil, change the intake gasket, everything returns to normal including the oil pressure.
To make a long story short, about a month later I'm driving around and all of a sudden my motor starts making this ear-hurting metal-to-metal screeching sounds. I limp home and a few days later I tore it down. All the cam bearings were worn down to the copper with nicks and scratches all over them and all main and rod bearings were worn too (but not nearly as bad as the cam). So, what caused this? most likely the 3-4 days I drove around with contaminated oil without realizing it.
