Want some help on this setup
I have an 89' Firebird formula 350 WS6 and i'm doing a motor swap.......
The lower end is a 350 bored .040 over and decked the block .030 off. It has flat top fordged pistons and fordged rods with upgraded steel crankshaft. I have bought;
GM LT4 Hot Cam (roller, and i want to stay roller)
1.6 roller rockers
Trickflow Twisted Wedge G2 heads
Comp Cams springs (#926-16, support .600 lift)
Holley Stealth Ram
30lb injectors
58mm Tb
Stock 89' 350 Prom
Hooker SuperComp Headers and 3" mandelin bent y-pipe (i know the spelling is jacked...lol )
Its all supported with a Built up 700R4, stall (2400-2700), and the stock 3.27 posi rear-end
Wanting to know hp and tq estimates and peoples opinion on the setup......i still have time to change things up......let me know

Well, are you done with the swap? If so, how are the results? I have a set of Twisted Wedges and an HSR sitting in the garage. One day I'll get around to putting it all on.
Well you might be better served with a solid roller cam. Check out Crane, they have some sweet street solid roller lobes. We are in the process of plugging one into my buddys stroker motor.
I dont ever plan to run a hydra roller cam again in a weekend/cruiser car.

id be very surprised if that stock prom will work at all with that setup. you'll most likely need a custom one. why don't you go for a bit more lift in the cam dept since you have such a very nice intake and heads. i'd be taking advantage of the high lift potential. other than that, killer setup. i like it alot.

THANK YOU.......the stock prom works well....lol....don't know how but it does...having problems with the custom burnt one tho. I was gonna go 1.7 roller rockers and raise the lift to .558 and .558 . should be nice with the setup. I just don't know if that lift is ok with the block being decked .030. any suggestions?

First off, what rockers are you using, or planning to use with those heads? You have to watch the piston to valve clearance especially with those heads, but I'm sure you already know that. I have a set of Pro Magnum RRs right now (1.52), but they are for standard chevy heads. Trickflow says I just need to buy the Pro Magnum Twisted Wedge intake rocker set because my Standard Pro Mangum exhaust rockers will fit. Also, my heads are the G1 heads. Did you look at the intake bowls of your G2s? I was just wondering if they looked like mine..............

no, thank YOU for that info. i'm in the process of doing a similar swap but with a superram and a zz-409 cam. i was going to shell out over 400 bucks to have performance resource do my chip but i will definately wait before i do that. who did your custom chip? the only way i know to check valve-to-piston clearance is with silly putty. yeah that's right. flatten out a blob of silly putty and lay it on top of a piston, reassemble the head with gasket in place (dont torque it too tight) and rotate the engine one full cycle. then take the head off and measure the thickness of the thinnest point where the valves crushed the putty against the piston. you need to have a .100" margin for safety. definately a useful trick for blueprinting.

above post should have read play-doh (DOH!) not silly putty. i get the two confused. play-doh has less elasticity and therefore will give a more accurate reading. lol

The play-doh method is preferred, I think. Another option would be to just start it, then pull the heads and count the number of bent valves and battered pistons, but play-doh is cheaper! Hey check out the prominator
