Alright, most of you will probably say, "Man if you don't know what that is, then I highly suggest you go back and plan on NOT doing an engine and transmission swap"
Well... I completely understand, but I got a lot of help from my buddies so it shouldn't be a problem, but none of them are familiar with domestics, so we are all taking a crash course here.
I know #1 is part of the AC, #2 is most likely power steering, #3 is water pump, and #4 is just timing... But I have no idea about number 5.. correct me where i am wrong.

I have no idea what these are, they look like filters of some sort... And those two hoses are for the HEATER correct? So as long as they stay intact my heater and defroster will still work?

No clue... My best guess is that it something to do with emissions... Taking a long shot... EGR?

Here is a small metal pipe that lead to the air cleaner area... No clue what it is... And those hoses. Where do they go?

Thanks a lot
err.. Thanks way more then alot.

allright the first picture #1 is your AC compressor #2 power steering pump/resevoir #3 Water pump #4 Crank pulley bolted to harmonic balancer which is used to set the timingand #5 is your air pump for emmisions
Picture #2: Yes the two hoses going through the firewall are your heater hoses they go into the heater core. The two other ? marks are prob some sort of valve for the air pump not sure though.
Picture #3 That is your Charcoal canister it has a metal hose that leads back to your fuel tank, it is suppose to vent the fumes.
Picture #4 All are hoses for your air pump
I got an idea for ya get rid of all that stuff that you dont know what it is and do this..... ONLY THE ESSENTIALS

Hey, I had an 83, I remember all that stuff, and boy was it fun!! To answer the rest of what kev missed, the second pic, the ? on the left is the "filter" (more like a screen) for the air that the air pump draws in. The middle ? is a little air canister for the emissions as well, which merely directs air. In your last pic, #'s 1 & 2 are the manifold air tube lines, which inject air INTO the manifolds (therefore, if you take the line off while the engine is running, and put your hand over the valve, there should be NO air coming out of the valve itself. If there is then replace it immediately, although if that is the case, it will likely just melt the air diverter before you realize it's melted (as happened to me)), and #3 is the same thing basically, except it goes into the side of the cat. And the ? attaches to a fitting on the side of the stock air cleaner. That should about do it, have fun with it, and you'll be glad you took lots of pics of all of it, I know I was!!
