How much to pay for this L98 block?
350 L98 block bored .030 Painted black, from a 92Z supposedly... how much is this worth? Anything I should ask for? I know the guy and want to give him a fair price on it. He said he bought it from an Fbody/vette shop in texas...

If it is from a 92, it is a roller motor. You can verify this by looking in the cam valley. There should be 3 or 4 raised, machined bosses sticking out of the cam oiling vain with a small, threaded holes in them. If these bosses are not there, it's a pre 87 block. Also, make sure it is a 4" bore and not a 3.74" bore, you don't want to buy a 305 block by mistake.
For a bored 350 roller, 1 piece block L98 block, I wouldn't pay more that $100 for it. They are a dime a dozen, and you could probably find a 4 bolt roller truck block for $100-$150.

If it's been cleaned up and bored by a shop that you can trust, it's worth about $75-100 plus the cost of the machine work, more or less. That is, that's how much it would take to duplicate it.
You can look up the casting number and verify that it's really a 350, not a 305. www.mortec.com

And don't go on the assumption of the year of the block that it's a roller. The motor in my car came from a 90 model chevy 2500 and its a flat tappet motor.
Someone once told me if it has a one piece rear main, it was a roller motor. I'd like to slap the **** out of that guy now.
