HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!

alright, first off I would like everyone to know that I do not know that much about cars.I drive a 1989 Camaro RS V8 305.

About 2 weeks ago I was driving along the highway and I started to give it gas and it started to jerk real bad and then it made this popping noise from under the hood. I have no idea what it could be. Someone told me that it made the popping noise because it was missing. I was also told that it may be my coil, I changed that, did nothing. Please let me know if you have any idea what is wrong with my car.
Thanks alot,
Matt

How does it drive normally? Does it do this only when you are hard on the pedal, or most of the time? When was the last time you did plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter? Lets start with this, and maybe we can figure it out.

i last changed my plugs in sep. changed fuel filter end of nov. havent changed wires, caps or rotor. Could these be the problem? Like I said, I know little to nothing about cars.
I also failed to mention that when I come to complete stop, the car just dies. It dies about one out of every 10 stops and that is the only time the check engine light comes on.
Thanks
Matt

Start with your tune up. New plugs, cap, rotor, wires, and 02 sensor (oxygen sensor). Once these parts are installed, set your timing, and check your TPS (throttle position sensor) and THEN see if these problems still exist.

sounds like it isn't getting enough fuel.
