Air Intake Fastners

I know this is really stupid but how do you replace the quarter turn fastners on the air intake box? The only way I see is to physically force them out but then wouldn't the new ones just fall out from the old ones "stretching" out the original holes? Thanks in advance.

I haven't really looked at how to remove those, or what specific design they are, but those are called DZUS fasteners.
