Vortec vs Standard intake gaskets

I took this picture with no intent other than reference for TGO.

Yes those gaskets are sorta similiar but slap a non vortec intake on a vortec setup and it dosent sit anywhere near where it needs to be. Most vortec gaskets do not have holes in the center since vortec heads only take 4 bolts per head to mount the intake.

oh in case anyone didn't know which was which, both are from FelPro. The top is a Vortec gasket and the bottom is a standard one. I just wanted to clarify.

But yes, anybody who is using standard gaskets in a vortec setup you need to get them out. Same thing with standard spark plugs in a vortec head; they're too short!

I run the long thread plugs now but in the past I've used standard ones ...made absolutely no difference in the way the car ran or performed. But, that may be due to my extra-beefy ignition system.
