Having probs with my tbi injection. Have replaced and tested everything I could think of and it's still giving me a hard time. Some days it runs great, then some it over loads on fuel and dies, then will start again but has no power with still too much fuel then I unplug the tps, runs fine. Honestly I kinda don't like tbi. I have a 5.7 vortec injection intake, heads, engine harness and computer that came off 98 truck. Im not talking about the 5.3 ls vortec injection but the 5.7 vortec injection that was after tbi and before ls. I know the intake and heads will work on my tbi block. My question is, can the engine harness and computer plug into my Camaro? Anything else to change? Car is a 90 rs 5.7 auto

 

Don't do it. Replace the tps.

 

Already replaced tps. all motor senors, plugs and wires, cap and rotor, coil, fuel pump and filter and tbi rebuilt with new injectors. All have been replaced

 

Yet it runs in default with the tps off. So it is getting a bad signal from the TPS , could be wire connector, faulty though replaced TPS or maybe it needs adjustment.

 

Could be bad connector. I have no adjustment on tps. I have the older straight three pin tps. The newer triangle shape pin tps has adjustment. I have always had probs with this tbi when I got the car. It surges at idle and while driving. Surged with original 5.0 and does it with 5.7.

 

Connect or wires probably. Have you changed ecm?

 

I have not done anything with ecm. I was told when I got it, they put the caprice cop car 5.7 ecm in it but not sure and haven't checked it out. Changing out ecms, wouldn't that mess with the vaps system? Im still using original chip key, so im thinking they didn't change ecm. Have any insight on the 5.7 vortec injection? If I can't fix the tbi, the vortec is my route. As I can't find a tpi or one cheap enough.

 

Do you have a buddy with an obd1 scanner? At least check the codes.
